Do you know your neighbors well?
Yes, I have a good rapport with my neighbors. We often chat when we run into each other and even share occasional meals or attend community events together. It’s nice to have such friendly neighbors.
What kind of activities do you do with your neighbors?
We engage in various activities together. For instance, we organize neighborhood clean-up days, participate in local charity events, and sometimes have barbecues or picnics in the park nearby. It’s a wonderful way to strengthen our bond and contribute positively to the community.
Do you think it’s important for neighbors to help each other? Why?
Absolutely, I believe neighbors should help each other. A strong sense of community support not only fosters good relationships but also makes daily life smoother. During emergencies or times of need, having neighbors who are willing to lend a hand can be invaluable.
How has the relationship between neighbors changed in recent years?
I’ve noticed that in recent years, with our busy lives and increased use of technology, people tend to interact with neighbors less frequently. However, I also see a trend of community initiatives and social media groups that bring neighbors together virtually, making it easier to connect and share information.
How do you think neighbors could improve their relationships?
Neighbors can improve their relationships by initiating small gestures of kindness, such as saying hello, offering assistance, or organizing simple gatherings. Clear communication and willingness to resolve conflicts amicably are also essential for building strong neighborly bonds.
Would you prefer to live in a close-knit community or in a more private setting? Why?
Personally, I would prefer a close-knit community. Living in such an environment creates a sense of belonging and provides a support system. It’s comforting to know that you have neighbors you can rely on and share experiences with.
IELTS Speaking Neighbour – Part 2 Sample
Describe an interesting neighbour. You should say:
- Who this person is
- How you know this person
- What this person likes to do
- And explain why you think this neighbour is interesting
| Who this person is | I always feel thankful as I was born in such a tranquil and sociable countryside. When I was a little girl, my mother usually told me that a stranger nearby is better than a far-away relative. That’s why my family has always had an affectionate relationship with my neighbours. If asked about a neighbour that influences me the most, I would like to talk about Mr. Dung – an extra-friendly neighbour who has lived next to my family for about 20 years. |
| How you know this person | Well, I have a very bonding relationship with him because he is my father’s childhood friend and he really looks like my father. They always have a lot in common. An unforgettable memory of my childhood is watching my father and his friends play volleyball together every afternoon. Needless to say, Mr. Dung was always there by my father’s side. |
| What this person likes to do | The more I got to know Mr. Dung, the more I admire him. To be honest, he was admired by most of the people in the neighbourhood. He is always pleased to give a hand whenever they look for his help even with small things. One thing is for sure no matter the time, we can count on him. Over and above that, he always treats other people with kindness and gives them good advice. When you get in trouble, he is the person you should turn to for his mastery, wisdom as well as responsibilities. |
| And explain why you think this neighbour is interesting | Personally, I guess he is the best neighbour that one can have. I always try to visit him whenever I go back to my fatherland. I enjoy having a conversation with him, there are always new important life lessons for me to contemplate though. |
IELTS Speaking Neighbour – Part 3 Sample
Do you think neighbours are important?
To my thinking, the neighbour is an essential part of one’s life. As I mentioned, a stranger nearby is better than a far-away relative. They are the ones who live close to us and are willing to come ahead whenever we need while our true blood relatives may live far away. for example some emergency cases or mental support. I’m sure that if we treat them as our friends and help them when needed, they will do the same in return.
What are the qualities of a good neighbour?
I’d probably have to say that if your neighbours respect you and your property regardless of age, race, or gender and they openhandedly show you their helpfulness and empathy during your crisis without hesitation or judgement, they are the neighbours that you should highly esteem and appreciate. You can not treasure someone who only shows up in your beautiful moments and could not be present in your tough times.
What are some of the qualities of a good community?
Well, I think a good community can be defined as a society where each individual is well-educated. They are able to utterly aware that respecting the privacy of others is a basic human dignity as people have the right to peaceful enjoyment, without being disturbed or harassed by others. Moreover, it is somewhere of happiness and prosperity that provides a high quality of life for the residents that live there.
