| What it is | There’s an unspoken rule that has been my pet peeve for the longest time. It is that society expects children to perform well academically, and people tend to validate those who do so more. |
| Why you don’t like it | It is because, personally, I believe everybody is different and unique in their own way, and I stand by that. Children can take their interest in all kinds of different things, therefore, it undoubtedly leads to the fact that they excel in only the things that they choose. However, the fact that many people tend to overlook their children’s hearts’ desire and are more likely to give credit to those who favor studying. Therefore, I think that it’s unfair. |
| How others feel about the rules | I’ve asked others how they feel about the aforementioned concept, and honestly speaking, the answers range widely from person to person. Those who perform academically well stated that they feel nothing is wrong with it, a minority of them expressed their sorry. On the other hand, those who are keen on anything else aside from school said they feel underappreciated at times and the concept is very disheartening. |
| And explain whether you’ve followed the rule | For myself, although this rule has gotten under my skin, I still abide by it. Because it felt like it’s my responsibility to do well in school, all the while still trying to pursue my interest outside of studying. A silver lining to it though, is that I get to learn useful knowledge along the way too. |

What are the rules students should follow at school?
There are two rules that I think students should strictly adhere to, which are punctuality and respecting the school’s properties. For punctuality, I think students should show up on time in order not to disrupt their teachers in the middle of teaching or annoy their classmates. For the latter rule, students shouldn’t vandalize the properties and it should be kept in mint condition for as long as possible. Public facilities are usually expensive to purchase, and it will be passed down for younger generations to use also.
Are the rules at school good or bad? Why?
Personally, I think most of the regulations at schools are good. Because they help keep the students in order, therefore, make it easier for teachers to control their class. Another good point is that rules practice discipline for the students also, thus, they can grow up to be well-mannered people in the future.
What rules should children follow at home?
There is a rule I know off the top of my head, because my parents use it. Honestly speaking, I think it’s effective. The first rule is to always go to bed on time. By doing so, parents can ensure that their childrens’ health is always kept in check, and that the youngsters won’t doze off in class the next day.
